Hundreds of cyber defense teams will compare their skills in responding to real-world, simulated attacks.

Cyberbit, provider of the world’s leading cyber readiness and skills development platform has announced the return of the International Cyber League (ICL) starting May 10, 2022.

ICL is the first cyber security competition evaluating a cyber defense team’s ability to respond to simulated attacks, like the ones they will be required to mitigate in real-life.

The ICL places security operations center (SOC) and incident response teams in a hyper-realistic cyber range where they will be required to detect and respond to a live attack. Scoring will be based on time to respond and on the team’s performance in detecting, investigating, and remediating the attack using industry best-practices and commercial security tools. The winning team will be crowned The World’s Best Cyber Defense Team, and the prizes awarded to the top teams include gaming laptops, game consoles, and VR headsets.

This is the second annual ICL. Last year’s event attracted over 80 organizations. Finalists were ISA Cybersecurity, American Express and MetLife, with the Hudson’s Bay Company winning the tournament. This year, over 100 organizations have registered for ICL 2022, and the number keeps going up!

The competition starts with a qualifiers round that will evaluate individual team member skills in virtual cyber labs. Teams who pass the qualifiers round will compete in simulated live-fire attack scenarios in a cyber range. The entire competition, including attack simulation, automated tracking of team performance, and scoring, will be powered by the Cyberbit skill development platform, which is used by some of the world’s largest enterprises to prepare their information security teams for attacks and to continuously maintain their skills.

Sharon Rosenman, Cyberbit CMO, said, “We received hundreds of requests to bring back the ICL and this year will be bigger and better in all terms: the prizes, the realism and richness of scenarios, and the number of teams participating. I’d like to wish the teams good luck! This should be a fun and an educational experience.”

Registration for ICL 2022 closes April 28th, 2022. The competition officially starts May 10th and runs through to May 25th.
